BACKGROUND

The Athenian owl coins and the Eid Mar coin were produced by Striker Token and Medal in 2007. They were hand-hammered from silver by chief coiner Timothy Grat, using dies engraved by Ron Landis.

The owl and Eid Mar coins were advertised in Celator magazine and sold rather well, though no more than 100 of any denomination was minted by Striker (GMM mintage unknown but thought to be in upper hundreds).

No discount is being offered for any of these ancient coin reproductions as they sold out at full list price. These few examples were found after the Striker mint closed and could have been sold many times over before this to Celator readers if the coins would have been discovered earlier.

The tetradrachma listed as AS 23-A came from the GMM Archive Set (see "Archive Sets" under Concept Dollars). It is one of 10 minted with the reverse COPY stamp placed outside of the incuse portion of the coin, on the flat surface of the coin. There is just a single example of this coin and you should receive email or verbal confirmation if you wish to purchase it, as it may be already gone.

The same need for confirmation is true of the single Eid Mar coin, which happens to be a lone example found long after the series was thought to be sold out.

The small Pegasus coins (15mm) were struck out of pewter as part of the "mini-mint" demonstration. Pattern in the Greek style, the obverse has a classical head of a curly-haired young male while the reverse has a nice engraving of a flying horse. Offers for the entire run of 63 coins will be seriously considered. These nice examples of hand-hammered coinage would make great door-prizes, a hand-out for your coin club, or many other possible uses.

The larger Pegasus coins (18-19mm) are struck in silver, with the same design.
